Reception - Pumpkin week!
Lesson: EYFS
Class: Reception Year: 2024 - 2025
We had a lovely week learning about pumpkins.
Christopher Pumpkin brought us some lovely stories to share. We retold the "We're going on a pumpkin hunt" story using actions and a story map. We practised it so much that we could tell the story all on our own without the teachers!
We loved Christopher's story about scaring the wicked witch with his beautiful castle makeover! In drawing club we drew Christopher and some of us drew our own dream castles.
We listened to the story 'Pumpkin Soup' and made our own soup outside in our outdoor kitchen.
We used real hammers to safely and carefully hammer wooden tees into a pumpkin, it took a lot of concentration! When we twisted out the tees it left a very spotty pumpkin!
We decorated one pumpkin with stickers! Our funky finger skills were put to the test with peeling the stickers and placing them one at a time on the pumpkin.
We enjoyed collage work using orange textured paper and cellophane.
We learnt about repeating patterns in maths and applied it to our pumpkin theme! We used half an apple to print the shape of the pumpkins and a pom-pom to print a conker shape.
It's been a busy week!!
