St Paul's Church
There are close links between the school and church. We support each other and celebrate some special services together, such as Harvest, Christmas and our annual Year 6 Leavers Service. These celebrations enable the children to experience services in church which are led by our children alongside our vicar. In addition, a number of classes come across to the church during the year to aid some of the Religious Education curriculum teaching. The church also hosts a ‘Schools Week’ each year where St Paul’s School is invited across to experience an element of the Gospel message in a hands on, interactive way.
Our vicar is Emma Handley. Emma leads worship in school once a week. She is also a governor of our school and supports us spiritually.
Every Sunday (apart from family services on the first Sunday of each month) there is a thriving Junior Church, which meets alongside the main service in age appropriate groups for young people from birth to teens. On average, 50 young people attend St Paul’s Church each week. In addition, a Messy Church (focused around crafts, games, worship and food) is held on the second Saturday of each month for the Primary school age group, which is attended by 40 – 50 children with their parents/carers. This provides an informal non-threatening expression of church. Further details of services and events can be found on St Paul’s Church website http://www.stpaulstaley.co.uk.
Many children from St Paul's also attend the Rainbows/Brownies/Guides in the church community rooms.
There are foundation governors from the church family who are members of the school governing body, who play an active and crucial role in leading and managing the school.
