Chinese New Year! The year of the dragon!

This week we have LOVED learning all about Chinese New Year. We have learnt the story of The Great Race, learnt about Chinese New Year traditions, looked at decorations and made our own. We watched lion and dragon dancing, and took our dragons on a march around school!

 We watched ribbon dancing and twirled shapes with ribbon sticks. We made Chinese food and helped with the preparation and of course the eating! We tried to use chopsticks and dangled noodles into our mouths!

We looked at where China was in the world and learnt a bit about the Great Wall of China. We made our own great walls inside the classroom and then outside!

Finally on Friday we were gifted a Chinese money wallet containing a gold coin, to wish us luck for the year ahead. It's been a fantastic week and the children's attention and recall of facts throughout the week has been amazing.
